Autumn - the season for slowing down, letting go & restoring

Autumn is on its way - one of my favourite times of year.
The days begin to shorten, the evenings draw in and nature starts to change around us. The trees give us a beautiful reminder of how to move through change: they let go of what they no longer need.
The leaves change colour, release their hold and gently fall to the ground.
What looks like an ending is actually part of a much bigger cycle. Those fallen leaves return to the earth, becoming nourishment and compost for new growth when spring arrives.

Perhaps it’s no coincidence that a tree is at the heart of the Celtic Balance logo.
For us, the tree represents grounding, strength, balance and connection - with deep roots beneath us and the ability to continue growing and changing with the seasons. It feels particularly meaningful at this time of year, when nature reminds us that letting go is not something to fear, but a natural and necessary part of renewal.
Perhaps we can take a little inspiration from the trees.
After the activity and energy of summer, autumn invites us to turn our attention inwards.
To slow down. To restore. To notice what our bodies and minds have been carrying and perhaps ask ourselves: What am I ready to let go of?

Time to put your feet up
Life doesn’t always make slowing down easy. We carry tension in our shoulders, hold our breath without realising it, clench our jaws and keep going even when our bodies are asking for something different.
Reflexology and Reiki offer a space to pause.
A chance to put your feet up, switch off from the outside world and give yourself some uninterrupted time to simply be. Reflexology works through the feet, using specific techniques and pressure to encourage relaxation and support the body’s natural balance. Reiki offers a deeply restful experience, giving you time to become still, breathe and tune in to how you are actually feeling.Sometimes we don’t realise how much tension we are holding until we finally stop. Autumn can be the perfect time to do just that.

Summer activity to Autumn restoration
Summer often brings more movement — walking, gardening, holidays, outdoor activities, running around after the children and, for many of our clients, lots of sport.
Then comes the transition into autumn.
For those who have been particularly active, Sports Massage can be a wonderful way to support tired, tight and hardworking muscles.
Whether you’re recovering from a busy summer of activity, preparing your body for the new sporting season or simply feeling the effects of accumulated muscular tension, massage can help you take care of your body rather than waiting until it tells you it has had enough.
Think of it as part of your maintenance routine - not just something to book when something hurts. Your body works hard for you. Autumn is a good time to give something back to it.

Deep Mag Cream - supporting your body through the seasons
Our skin is another wonderful way to bring a little self-care into your everyday routine.
Deep Mag Magnesium Cream, from My Goodness Natural Skincare, combines magnesium with arnica and carefully selected essential oils traditionally chosen for their soothing, warming and refreshing qualities. Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in many processes within the body, including normal muscle and nerve function.
Applying a magnesium cream can become a lovely part of a bedtime or post-activity ritual, particularly when your body is feeling tired, tense or in need of some extra care.
Massage a little Deep Mag into areas that feel like they need attention and take a few moments to breathe, slow down and reconnect with your body. It’s not about doing more. It’s about caring for the body you’ve already asked so much of.

An Autumn Invitation
This season, perhaps we can take our cue from the trees.
We don’t need to hold on to everything.
We can release what is no longer serving us.
We can slow down without feeling guilty.
We can make space for rest.
And we can trust that periods of stillness and restoration are not wasted time - they are part of the natural cycle of renewal.
So as the leaves begin to fall, why not give yourself permission to pause too?
Put your feet up.
Take a breath.
Let go.
And give your body some time to restore.
Remember, autumn is not the end of growth.
It is the beginning of going inward, gathering strength and preparing for what comes next.
